Synopsis

Nina has spent her life chasing the lead, and she finally lands it: the dual role in Swan Lake. The White Swan she dances flawlessly, precise and cold. The Black Swan, all predatory abandon, no one believes she has in her, least of all her exacting director Thomas (Vincent Cassel). Then Lily arrives (Mila Kunis), loose and reckless, everything Nina is not. As opening night closes in, rivalry blurs into paranoia, and the reflection in the mirror stops matching the body in front of it. Her smothering mother (Barbara Hershey) watches her every move while strange marks and feathers appear on her skin.
Portman won the Oscar for the part and trained at the barre for a year to get there. Aronofsky shoots ballet like a horror film, the handheld camera glued to the back of her neck so the audience unravels with her. A hundred and three minutes that leave you holding your breath.
