Synopsis
Klimt (2006) is a biographical film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Chilean auteur Raúl Ruiz, with John Malkovich as the Austrian painter in his final months after a 1918 stroke.
Rather than tracing Klimt's life chronologically, Ruiz constructs the film as a deathbed hallucination. The gold-period paintings are already finished; what remains are impressions — the studios, the muses, the patrons and rivals of fin-de-siècle Vienna. Saffron Burrows, Nikolai Kinski, and Stephen Dillane orbit Malkovich in an art film that deliberately blurs memory and fantasy.
The erotic charge and ornamental density of Klimt's canvases carry into how Ruiz frames every shot. It moves by association, not by event. A film for viewers comfortable with cinema that behaves more like painting than narrative. Stream Klimt (2006) online on iFILM.
