Synopsis
A Sudden Case of Christmas (2024) is a family comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Danny DeVito plays Lawrence, who runs a cozy little hotel up in the Italian Dolomites.
His American granddaughter Claire arrives with her parents the way they always do — except the family usually shows up at Christmas, and right now it's August. Worse, there won't be a Christmas this year: mom and dad are splitting up. So the ten-year-old decides to throw the holiday anyway, in the middle of summer, and drag her parents back together.
Grandpa's in on it, and the two of them trim a tree in the heat, hunt down a Santa, and cook up one reunion scheme after another. Director Peter Chelsom keeps it gentle, with Andie MacDowell opposite DeVito and his real-life daughter Lucy along for the ride. An easy watch for a quiet night, sentimental without overdoing it.
