Lela (Aghniny Haque) washes the dead for a living, preparing bodies for burial according to strict religious rite. When her mother dies without warning, Lela spots something wrong on the corpse — a mark that has no business being there. Soon the same sign turns up on other bodies. A run of unexplained deaths across town starts to look deliberate: someone is performing the ritual in reverse, denying the dead their rest and stirring a power that should have stayed buried.

Daeng Ratu builds the scares out of the funeral rite itself — cold water, the shroud and the silence of the washing room do more than any creature could. The tagline promises that immortality is worse than dying, and the film takes that literally. For fans of Southeast Asian horror steeped in religious dread, it lands.
