Synopsis
Soar Into the Sun (2012) is a South Korean action film you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Kim Dong-won, it stars pop star Rain as hotshot fighter pilot Jung Tae-hun.
Tae-hun is all talent and no discipline. A reckless stunt wrecks an air show and gets him bumped into the F-15K squad run by by-the-book ace Lee Cheol-hee. The two pilots are opposites, and the friction is instant. Then a training sortie goes wrong: one pilot is killed, another goes missing, and what began as a clash of egos becomes a scramble to keep a war from starting.
Made with the cooperation of the Republic of Korea Air Force, the dogfights were flown in real F-15s, and the aerial work is the main draw. This is Korean blockbuster filmmaking that folds romance and barracks humor into the action. An easy recommendation for Top Gun fans who want an Asian spin on the genre.
