Einstein once said, If bees die out, mankind will follow 4 years later
Synopsis
More Than Honey (2012) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Oscar-nominated Swiss filmmaker Markus Imhoof.
The camera goes where people usually can't — inside the hive, into the swarm, right up to a queen on her mating flight. Imhoof follows bees across four countries: an old-school Alpine keeper in Switzerland, industrial operations in California that truck hives in to pollinate almond groves, migratory beekeepers in China, aggressive hybrids in Australia. One question ties it all together: why are colonies collapsing, and what happens to the food on our tables if the bees vanish.
The macro photography of insects in flight is shot like a feature, not a lecture, and Imhoof — himself a beekeeper's grandson — narrates with hands-on family knowledge instead of an activist's sermon. Its epigraph, often pinned on Einstein, warns that humanity has four years left without bees. A strong choice if you like BBC-grade nature docs that carry a personal voice.
