The Choral (2025) is a British comedy-drama with music you can watch online on iFILM. As World War I drags on, choirmaster Dr. Henry Guthrie inherits a small-town choral society stripped of nearly all its men by the army.
The singing now falls to teenagers, old men and women, and at first it's a glorious mess. Yet the rehearsals slowly become the town's way of holding itself together as casualty notices arrive from the front. Ralph Fiennes plays the conductor who believes a shared song binds people tighter than any speech. The tagline puts it plainly: divided by war, united in song.
Director Nicholas Hytner and writer Alan Bennett — the pair behind The History Boys — once again braid grief with gentle comedy. It's a film about the home front, loss and music as consolation, without tipping into sentiment. Stream The Choral (2025) online on iFILM.
