Synopsis
"The Road: The Tragedy of One" (2021) is a South Korean crime drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Director Kim Nowon sets the action inside Royal Hill, a gated residential complex in Seoul so exclusive that only the top one percent of the country's population qualifies to live there.
The premise lands fast: a child goes missing inside Royal Hill and comes back dead. The killer is not found. Among the residents — a TV anchor who treats manipulation as professional habit; his wife, daughter of a conglomerate chairman and a successful artist in her own right; a radio news director whose clean record is the first thing anyone mentions about her. As the investigation moves forward, each of those clean records starts to crack.
Korean crime drama has long used murder to expose class, and "The Road" fits that tradition — but the specific twist is that the crime happens inside the fortress, not outside it.
