Pushkin's Fairy Tales. For Adults (2021) is a Russian comedy anthology you can watch online on iFILM. Five stories everyone grew up with are dropped into Russia's present, its past, and a bleak dystopian future.
The familiar plots curdle into topical satire: Prince Yelisei drops rap verses, the Princess runs an Instagram feed, the priest signs on with the federal drug agency, and the Golden Cockerel is reborn as a neural network. A different director handles each tale in their own register, so the tone lurches from biting sketch to near-arthouse. The wide ensemble includes Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Lolita Milyavskaya and Pavel Popov.
