Synopsis
Flight of the Conchords (2007–2009) is an HBO comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. New Zealand folk duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement play fictionalized versions of themselves: two musicians who moved to New York, found one fan, one friend (the pawnshop owner), and a manager whose day job is at the New Zealand Consulate.
Each episode is built around two or three original songs — dead-on parodies of Bowie, 80s R&B, hip-hop, and whatever else they felt like that week, all written by the pair. Taika Waititi and Michel Gondry directed several episodes across the two seasons. Kristen Schaal plays their sole, obsessive fan with a commitment that carries entire scenes.
The show works because it never oversells the joke. Bret and Jemaine are bad at being famous, completely at peace with it, and somehow that is funnier than any punchline. Stream all episodes of Flight of the Conchords online on iFILM.
