Synopsis
Jackass (2000) is the MTV show that formalized a genre — watch all episodes online on iFILM. Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, and director Jeff Tremaine gathered a crew of people who were willing to do genuinely dangerous or disgusting things to each other on camera, edit it into short sketches, and call it television.
No plot. No characters in the fictional sense. Just Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, Jason "Wee Man" Acuña, Ryan Dunn, and the rest cycling through stunts, pranks, and physical gags that range from legitimately impressive to deeply ill-advised. The shopping-cart derbies, the public-space animal-suit infiltrations, the self-inflicted chaos that somehow looks choreographed in retrospect — it all came from here.
The show spawned a franchise of feature films and left a measurable crater in early-2000s youth culture. What makes it hold up is the obvious genuine friendship between the cast — the cruelty is real, but so is the loyalty, and that combination is harder to fake than the stunts.
