The Railway Men (2023) is a Netflix historical drama from India you can watch online on iFILM. It returns to the night of December 2nd, 1984, when poison gas from a pesticide plant began rolling through a sleeping city — and the local railway station turned into the last safe ground left.
As thousands choke in the streets, a handful of rail workers refuse to run. A weathered stationmaster, a green recruit, drivers and stranded travelers stay on the platform to hold back incoming trains and pull survivors out of the toxic air. Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu, Babil Khan and R. Madhavan anchor a cast of ordinary men forced to weigh their own lives against everyone else's.
Director Shiv Rawail rebuilds one of the deadliest industrial catastrophes of the last century from the ground up — through the linemen and clerks history rarely names, who became the entire rescue effort when the system failed. It's unsparing but never exploitative, leaning on human nerve over spectacle. A strong pick if you want true-event drama that actually hurts.
