Synopsis
Side Quest (2025) is the Mythic Quest spin-off you can watch online on iFILM, an Apple TV+ comedy that steps away from the studio and out into the world around the game. Four standalone stories, no single throughline — just a shared universe seen from unfamiliar angles.
Instead of following the developers, the camera trails the people in the orbit of one video game. A hardcore player whose offline life is quietly falling apart. The owners of a comic book shop. Musicians in a touring orchestra that performs the game's score live on stage. Artists who paint its worlds for a living. Each chapter is its own small search for community, recognition or love, and the characters barely overlap — that's the whole point of an anthology. The ensemble includes Derek Waters, Anna Konkle, Shalita Grant and Rob McElhenney.
Four directors split the episodes — Todd Biermann, Josh Gordon, Will Speck and Maurice Marable — so the mood drifts from light irony toward something closer to drama. The tagline says it plainly: same game, new quests.
