Synopsis
Closet Monster (2016) is a Canadian drama-fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Stephen Dunn tells the story of Oscar, a gifted teenager desperate to leave his hometown — and to escape the memories of a childhood spent inside a house where cruelty passed for ordinary life.
Oscar has a plan: art school, a new city, a clean start. But the past doesn't cooperate. It shows up in hallucinations, in the voice of his hamster, in the distance between him and everyone he tries to get close to. Connor Jessup carries the film in a performance that holds nothing back. Isabella Rossellini, Aaron Abrams, and Joanne Kelly round out the cast. The film won the TIFF Discovery Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival.
