Fanatic

Mrs. Trefoile welcomes her warmly. Then locks the door. A religious obsessive who holds Patricia responsible for her son's death, she intends to purify the girl by whatever means her doctrine allows. Bankhead plays the madwoman not with ranting but with courtesy — her certainty that she is doing the right thing is what makes the character genuinely chilling.
