Synopsis
Death and Nightingales (2018) is a BBC period drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Allan Cubitt — who created The Fall — and adapted from Eugene McCabe's 1992 novel. Fermanagh, Ireland, 1885: on her twenty-third birthday, Beth Winters decides she's done.
Beth (Ann Skelly) has spent her whole life on a remote farm under her stepfather Billy's control (Jamie Dornan). She plans to run with Liam Ward (Matthew Rhys) — charming, secretive, almost too eager to help. The countryside around them is full of watchers: informers, land agitators, neighbours who keep their loyalties folded away. Nothing is what it seems, and reading someone wrong can be final.
