Synopsis
Free Willy (1993) is a family adventure from director Simon Wincer that you can watch online on iFILM. After a runaway orphan named Jesse gets caught tagging a marine park with spray paint, the court sends him there to work off the damage.
Jesse trusts nobody. He bounced through foster homes, learned to steal, and keeps his guard up around every adult. Then he meets Willy, a young orca torn from his pod and stuck performing tricks for tourists. Two outsiders recognize each other. With trainer Rae Lindley (Lori Petty) backing him, the boy coaxes the whale into a routine, while park owner Dial works out that a dead orca pays better through insurance than a stubborn live one.
Jason James Richter plays Jesse, alongside August Schellenberg and Michael Ironside. Willy's leap over the breakwater became one of the most replayed shots in nineties kids' cinema, and the film kicked off a franchise plus real debate about keeping killer whales captive.
