Synopsis
Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) is an animated comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Kyle Balda, it hands the screen back to the little yellow troublemakers and a pint-sized Gru.
The year is 1976. Eleven-year-old Gru dreams of joining the Vicious 6, the legendary supervillain squad he idolizes. His audition flops, a villain goes rogue, and suddenly it falls to Kevin, Stuart and Bob to bail their tiny boss out. Cue stolen aircraft, a crash course in kung fu and pure chaos across San Francisco. The voice cast pulls in Steve Carell, Taraji P. Henson, Alan Arkin and Michelle Yeoh.
This is the fifth feature in Illumination's Despicable Me universe, the studio behind the banana-obsessed sidekicks. The film leans on slapstick gags and a wall-to-wall soundtrack of 70s hits, so younger viewers can laugh at the mayhem while parents catch the references.
