A parallel world has been running alongside the first one all along, with its own version of Martha: older, driven by different stakes, going by Eva. Her agenda cuts against everything Jonas has been trying to do. The two Windens mirror each other across the same three centuries — 1954, 1987, 2020 — but the choices made there produced a second knot beside the first. Martha crosses to 1888 to reach the stranded travellers. Adam holds her captive. Claudia moves between worlds alone, carrying a plan she shares with no one.
