Synopsis
Concrete Utopia (콘크리트 유토피아, 2023) is a South Korean post-apocalyptic thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Um Tae-hwa examines what ordinary people are willing to do when a single apartment block becomes the last functioning shelter in a destroyed city.
Seoul is gone — levelled by an earthquake. One building, Hwang Gung Apartments, is still standing. Survivors pour in from the ruins, and the residents face a choice: share what little they have, or lock out everyone who doesn't belong. They vote. They elect a leader named Yeong-tak. They form supply teams and security patrols. A working society in nine floors. The rules keep everyone alive. The rules also keep changing.
Lee Byung-hun plays Yeong-tak with coiled authority; Park Seo-joon and Park Bo-young are the couple trying to stay decent as the building's internal logic grows darker.
