Synopsis
A Liar's Autobiography (2012) is a British animated comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson, and Ben Timlett, it adapts Graham Chapman's deliberately unreliable memoir — a book Chapman himself described as brazenly fictionalized.
Chapman recorded the audio himself years before his death in 1989, and his voice carries the film throughout. John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, and Terry Gilliam voice the rest, reuniting the surviving Pythons in tribute to their colleague. Each episode of Chapman's life — the drinking, the comedy, the chaos — is animated in a different style, so the film shifts from psychedelic collage to hand-drawn absurdism from one sketch to the next. Cameron Diaz and Stephen Fry turn up in the supporting cast.
The result lands somewhere between a memorial and a Python sketch that got out of hand, which is exactly what Chapman would have wanted. If you already love Monty Python, this one is an easy 85 minutes. Watch A Liar's Autobiography online on iFILM.
