Synopsis
The Inspection (2022) is a drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Elegance Bratton wrote the screenplay from his own experience as a gay Black man rejected by his mother and pushed into homelessness before enlisting in the U.S. Marines.
The film follows Ellis French, played by Jeremy Pope, through the grinding routines of Marine Corps basic training. Instructors single him out, the barracks offer no shelter, and the physical demands are relentless. Yet within all of this, Ellis finds an unexpected sense of community. Pope's performance carries the film — contained, precise, never asking for sympathy. Gabrielle Union is understated and devastating as his mother.
