The missions are real — and so are the bullets. But the stranger tension is the domestic one: two people who never chose each other, stuck in a shared apartment, running debriefs that sound uncomfortably like relationship arguments. Director Hiro Murai sets the tone in the opener — dry, slightly awkward, and then suddenly violent. Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Dano and Parker Posey each turn up as other "Smiths," and every visit quietly reframes what the job actually is.
