Synopsis
Pretty Persuasion (2005) is a pitch-black satire you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Marcos Siega, it stars Evan Rachel Wood as Kimberly Joyce, a fifteen-year-old at a moneyed Beverly Hills high school.
Kimberly is gorgeous, sharp and cruel without a flicker of apology. Together with two friends she accuses her drama teacher of sexual harassment, kicking off a media circus that quickly spills past the school gates. Her real aims, though, have nothing to do with justice. The film swings at tabloids, parents, showbiz and the teenage hunger for fame all at once.
It's a caustic, deliberately uncomfortable watch, anchored by Wood's icy lead and James Woods as her father. Anyone hoping for a breezy teen comedy is in the wrong room: the humor here is mean and it lingers. Stream Pretty Persuasion (2005) online on iFILM.
