Synopsis
Bait (2019) is a British drama you can watch online on iFILM. On a storm-battered stretch of Cornish coast, fisherman Martin Ward has lost his boat, and the centuries-old way of life his family knew is buckling under the weight of tourism.
The friction runs through the family and out into the village. His brother Steven has turned their late father's vessel into a tripper boat for holidaymakers, while their childhood home by the harbour now belongs to a wealthy London couple who treat it as a getaway. Martin clings stubbornly to the catch and the old order, and every clash with the newcomers tightens the knot — until a tragedy at the family's core upends everything. Edward Rowe plays the taciturn lead whose silences carry more than dialogue ever could.
Director Mark Jenkin shot the film on 16mm stock, hand-processed it, and dubbed the sound separately, giving it a grainy black-and-white look and an uneasy, out-of-sync audio that turns a small story into something close to a ghost ballad for a vanishing world. It rewards viewers ready for slow, deliberate arthouse. Stream Bait (2019) online on iFILM.
