Robinson Crusoe (1997) is an adventure drama starring Pierce Brosnan — watch it online on iFILM. Directed by Rod Hardy and George T. When he encounters Friday, played by William Takaku, and pulls him from a ritual sacrifice, what follows is not straightforward rescue. The two men are from entirely different worlds, and the film is most interested in the friction and unexpected respect that develops between them. Polly Walker and Ian Hart also appear.
Brosnan plays Crusoe at a remove from his Bond persona — quieter, rawer, visibly worn down by years of solitude. The film takes Defoe's story seriously as a psychological study of isolation rather than a swashbuckling yarn, and that choice gives it more weight than most adventure adaptations of its era.
