Synopsis
To Write Love on Her Arms (2015) is a drama by Nathan Frankowski you can watch online on iFILM. Renee (Kat Dennings) is nineteen, raised on fairy tales about princesses and happy endings, yet cornered by addiction, depression and the urge to hurt herself.
The film covers the few days Renee has to hold on before a treatment center will take her, and it's really about what other people's care can pull a person back from. A childhood friend (Chad Michael Murray) and a musician named David (Rupert Friend) stay close. The whole thing grew out of a 2006 blog post by Jamie Tworkowski that sparked a nonprofit of the same name, now a real movement supporting people through depression and recovery. Dennings drops her usual comic edge, and that restraint is what holds the picture together. It's quiet, a little naive in places, honest about something most films skip past.
