Driven

Driven (2019) is a crime thriller directed by Nick Hamm — watch it online on iFILM. Jason Sudeikis and Lee Pace reconstruct one of the stranger true stories of the early 1980s: how an FBI informant and the most flamboyant car designer in Detroit ended up trapped together in a federal cocaine sting.

John DeLorean (Pace) built his reputation on ambition and spectacle — the gull-winged DMC-12 was supposed to be the car that changed everything. By 1982, his factory in Northern Ireland was hemorrhaging money and he needed a miracle. Jim Hoffman (Sudeikis) was a small-time drug dealer pressed into service as an undercover FBI asset and pointed straight at DeLorean. What started as a straightforward operation grew complicated fast: both men were playing roles, both were running out of options, and the line between informant and participant kept blurring.

Hamm resists the temptation to turn DeLorean into a martyred visionary or Hoffman into a simple villain — the film is more interested in the mechanics of entrapment and self-deception than in assigning guilt neatly.
