Synopsis
Killing Bono (2011) is a British-Irish comedy drama directed by Nick Hamm — watch it online on iFILM. Ben Barnes and Robert Sheehan play brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick, two Dublin kids who set out to conquer rock 'n' roll in the late 1970s.
There's just one problem: their schoolmates formed a band too. That band became U2. While Bono filled arenas, the McCormick brothers cycled through lineups, scraped together gigs in smoky Dublin pubs, and kept missing the moment by inches. Pete Postlethwaite and Kristen Ritter round out a cast that mines genuine comedy from genuine failure.
Based on the real Neil McCormick's memoir — he was Bono's childhood friend and later a music critic for The Daily Telegraph — the film is less about rock stardom and more about the particular misery of watching someone you know become a legend. Stream Killing Bono (2011) on iFILM.
