Synopsis
Stop-Loss (2008), directed by Kimberly Peirce, is a war drama you can watch online on iFILM — starring Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Sergeant Brandon King comes home from Iraq decorated and done with it. Then a stop-loss order lands: the Army is keeping him on active duty past his contracted service, no appeal, no warning. He refuses to go back. Brandon and his friend's girlfriend Michelle (Abbie Cornish) hit the road toward Washington looking for a congressman who might intervene. Back in Texas, his squad falls apart — Steve (Gordon-Levitt) drinks, Tommy (Tatum) barely keeps his own household from caving.
Peirce — previously of Boys Don't Cry — built the film around a real Pentagon policy used throughout the Iraq campaign. Less a combat film than a portrait of what happens when the military breaks its end of a deal. Stream Stop-Loss online on iFILM.
