The Yellow Birds

The Yellow Birds (2018) is a war drama from Kevin Powers' novel, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Two twenty-year-olds, Bartle and Murph, ship out to Iraq under the worn-down Sergeant Sterling — and Bartle, the older of the pair, rashly promises Murph's mother he'll bring her boy back alive.

The story moves between two timelines: the dust and dread of the deployment, and Bartle's return to a hometown full of silent questions and a guilt he can't set down. Tye Sheridan and Alden Ehrenreich play the soldiers, Jennifer Aniston and Toni Collette two mothers on opposite ends of the same loss, and Jason Patric the sergeant who spares no one.
