Synopsis

Black Gold (2011) is an epic adventure drama directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud — watch it online on iFILM. The Arabian Peninsula in the 1930s: two rival emirs negotiate a fragile peace, drawing a neutral buffer zone between their kingdoms and sealing it with the sons of the defeated sultan handed over as hostages. Then oil is found under that very strip of sand.

Mark Strong plays Nesib, the emir who wants to spend the windfall on roads and hospitals. Antonio Banderas is the rival he defeated. Tahar Rahim is Auda, the young man raised between both worlds, now forced to pick a side. Frieda Pinto and Riz Ahmed round out a cast that filmed entirely on location in Tunisia and Qatar, giving the desert landscape a genuine weight.

Annaud builds the film as a slow-burn collision between tribal honour and industrial greed — the kind of historical epic that refuses a clean moral. Stream Black Gold (2011) on iFILM.
