Alphas (2011) is a Canadian-American sci-fi drama series you can watch online on iFILM — both seasons are available. The premise is grounded: a U.S. Department of Defense neurologist named Dr. Lee Rosen runs a small team of people whose brains and bodies operate well outside normal parameters. David Strathairn plays Rosen not as a handler but as a scientist who genuinely cares whether his agents hold together.

One processes sensory input so precisely that crowds become unbearable; another can push his own physiology past the point of serious injury. Together they take on cases that left the FBI and CIA empty-handed, while a longer conspiracy slowly surfaces around a faction of Alphas with less cooperative intentions. Summer Glau and an early Mahershala Ali both show up in the cast, which gives the ensemble some real texture.
