Hooper

Hooper (1978) is an action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Sonny Hooper is Hollywood's top stunt man, but his spine runs on painkillers now, and a brash newcomer named Ski keeps showing up on set, eager to jump higher and crash harder.

Burt Reynolds plays a guy who has spent a career falling off roofs and flying out of burning cars so other men could collect the glory. A doctor warns him that one more bad hit means a wheelchair, while Jan-Michael Vincent's Ski goads him toward an insane final gag. Sally Field is the girlfriend who is tired of waiting for the phone call from the hospital. In between come bar fights, fast cars, a canyon jump, and the question of when a legend ought to walk away.

Director Hal Needham had been a famous stunt man himself, and he shot something close to an autobiography of the trade — real stunts instead of cutting tricks.
