Synopsis
The Villain (1979) is a slapstick spoof western you can watch online on iFILM. Charming Jones is riding to the next town to collect a large inheritance, guarded by the upstanding cowboy Handsome Stranger, while a crooked banker hires outlaw Cactus Jack to ambush her and grab the cash before she gets there.
The joke is that Jack can't rob anyone to save his life. Kirk Douglas clearly relishes playing the hapless bandit, rigging elaborate traps that only ever spring on himself. Ann-Margret is the unflappable beauty at the center, and a young, stone-faced Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the muscle-bound hero who never notices the chaos around him. Director Hal Needham, the legendary Hollywood stuntman, basically shot a live-action Road Runner cartoon: boulders drop, dynamite backfires and bodies tumble off cliffs straight out of Looney Tunes.
