Synopsis
Dumb and Dumber (1994) is a New Line Cinema comedy directed by Peter Farrelly — watch it online on iFILM. Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey), a limo driver with sky-high confidence and rock-bottom judgment, falls for a woman he drove to the airport. She left a briefcase behind. Lloyd decides to return it, dragging his roommate Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) along on a cross-country drive from Providence, Rhode Island, to Aspen, Colorado.
What neither of them knows: the briefcase is a ransom drop, and the men who want it back are not patient people. Lloyd and Harry ride a car shaped like a sheepdog, spend kidnapping money on champagne, pick fights they have no business picking, and systematically destroy every situation they walk into — all while remaining completely, serenely oblivious. Lauren Holly plays Mary Swanson, the woman at the center of this mess who cannot quite believe what she is dealing with.
Peter Farrelly and his brother Bobby co-wrote the script, launching what became a decade of anarchic studio comedies. The $16 million production earned over $247 million worldwide. 1994 was already Jim Carrey's year — Ace Ventura and The Mask came out the same twelve months — and this film sealed it.
