Synopsis
Little Women (1994) is Columbia Pictures' drama adaptation you can watch online on iFILM. Director Gillian Armstrong drew from Louisa May Alcott's 1868 novel to tell the story of the four March sisters growing up in Concord, Massachusetts, while their father serves in the Union Army. Winona Ryder leads the cast as Jo — the sister who writes plays in a cold attic and refuses to let anyone tell her what her life should look like.
Meg (Trini Alvarado) wants a respectable husband. Amy (played young by Kirsten Dunst, older by Samantha Mathis) nurses a rivalry with Jo. Beth (Claire Danes) is the quiet one held together by music. Next door lives Laurie (Christian Bale), who falls for Jo and won't quite accept her answer. Susan Sarandon plays the sisters' mother — a woman running a household alone and determined that none of her daughters mistake dependence for security.
