Synopsis
Star Kid (1997) is a family sci-fi adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Shy seventh-grader Spencer Griffith digs a fallen meteor out of the local junkyard and finds a Cybersuit inside — a talking robot armor from another galaxy that he can climb into and wear like a second self.
Spencer is played by a young Joseph Mazzello, the kid from Jurassic Park. The suit, called Cyber, helps the timid boy stand up to the bullies who torment him and finally talk to the girl he likes. The fun runs out fast, though: the Broodwarriors that scorched Cyber's home planet have tracked the prototype across space, and a galactic war years in the making lands in a quiet American town.
Manny Coto's movie is goofy, low-tech charm from the late nineties: an animatronic suit, practical effects, and a simple story about borrowed strength teaching a kid to trust his own.
