A-X-L

A-X-L (2018) is a family sci-fi adventure you can watch online on iFILM. While riding the dirt-bike track, teenager Miles stumbles onto a piece of classified military hardware: a robotic dog driven by advanced artificial intelligence.

The machine, called A-X-L, can defend itself and respond to kindness, and it bonds with Miles (Alex Neustaedter) the way any loyal pup bonds with its owner. Trouble is, the corporation that built the prototype wants its expensive creation back and sends operatives after them. With help from Sara (Becky G), Miles tries to protect a friend most people see as nothing more than scrap metal. Alex MacNicoll and Thomas Jane also appear.

Director Oliver Daly expanded the story from his own short film, leaning on the familiar boy-and-his-pet formula with the twist that this pet is made of steel. A gentle, low-stakes pick for a family movie night, especially for kids who love gadgets and gear. Stream A-X-L (2018) online on iFILM.
