Vanishings with no body, murders where the evidence points nowhere useful, cases officially closed and unofficially anything but. Families, detectives, journalists and witnesses speak directly to camera. There is no narrator smoothing over the gaps, and the gaps are the point — viewers are handed a set of facts that don't add up and left to sit with that. The first two volumes triggered a real wave of tip calls after release, with at least one case receiving credible new leads.
