Synopsis
The Irony of Fate: The Continuation (Ironiya sudby. Prodolzhenie, 2007) is Timur Bekmambetov's New Year comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Thirty years after that famous Leningrad apartment mix-up, the story of Zhenya and Nadya gets a second round — this time through their grown children.
Kostya, Lukashin's son (Konstantin Khabensky), keeps the old bathhouse tradition with Uncle Pasha and Uncle Sasha, drinks a little too much and wakes up in St. Petersburg at a very familiar address. Living there is Nadya's daughter (Elizaveta Boyarskaya), and that same evening her fiancé Irakli (Sergei Bezrukov) plans to propose. From there the genre takes over: the wrong apartment, mistaken identities and feelings that refuse to behave.
The film extends Eldar Ryazanov's beloved original, bringing back the older cast — Andrey Myagkov, Barbara Brylska and Yuriy Yakovlev. Bekmambetov delivers a glossy, big-budget take aimed at a new audience, packed with stars and familiar songs. Watch it for the dialogue between two eras and that unmistakable pre-holiday mood.
