Search Party (2016) is a dark comedy with a mystery pulse you can watch online on iFILM. Dory, an aimless Brooklyn twenty-something, latches onto news that a former college acquaintance named Chantal has vanished — and drags three equally self-absorbed friends into an amateur investigation.

Alia Shawkat plays Dory, flanked by her drifting boyfriend Drew (John Reynolds), the preening wannabe actor Elliott (John Early), and the scattered Portia (Meredith Hagner). At first it plays like a send-up of hipster Brooklyn, but the search keeps pushing the quartet past a line where satire of an arrested-development generation hardens into genuine thriller, and later into a story about guilt.

Each of the five seasons swaps genres — whodunit, courtroom, psychological horror, cult — yet they all run on one engine: these charming, insufferable people will do anything to avoid growing up.
