Synopsis
Search Party (2016), Season 5 — HBO Max dark comedy, 10 episodes, watch online on iFILM. The final season picks up right after Dory survived what should have been a murder: she came out of it convinced she has a higher purpose, which is exactly as dangerous as it sounds.
The plan this time is a pill. Dory partners with tech billionaire Tunnel Quinn to develop the Lyte pill — a supposed shortcut to enlightenment — and pulls Portia, Elliott, and Drew into the venture with the usual mix of flattery and pressure. It starts as the show's familiar absurd farce. Then Dory stumbles onto something that calls the entire project into question, Drew starts pushing back, and finishing the formula requires a hostage situation. Search Party has always been about people who mistake self-interest for a calling; Season 5 is where that finally catches up with them.
