Synopsis
7 Days in Havana (7 días en La Habana, 2012) is an arthouse anthology you can watch online on iFILM. Seven directors, seven days of the week, one Cuban capital: each one filmed a short chapter, and together they trace the city from a Monday sunrise to a Sunday night.
The lineup behind the camera is loaded — Benicio del Toro's directing debut, Gaspar Noé, Pablo Trapero, Julio Medem, Elia Suleiman, Cuba's own Juan Carlos Tabío, and Laurent Cantet. Josh Hutcherson and Daniel Brühl pass through the cast. The moods swing hard from chapter to chapter: a visiting American actor gets lost in Havana after dark, a young singer is pulled between her career and her faith, a whole block pools money to fix a broken fountain.
There's no single plot stitching it together, just a mosaic of feeling — one segment will land for you, another for the next viewer, and that's the point. Heat, music, peeling facades and rum hold the stories together better than any shared storyline could. Best for anyone who enjoys slow European cinema and can let go of a conventional arc.
