James Brolin appears as a patriarch whose word still carries weight in the valley. Romance tangles with the fight over inheritance, and a drifter with a buried past tosses fuel onto a fire that was already smoldering.

Adapted from Jodi Thomas's novels, this is a dusty, unhurried melodrama — horses, pickups, country music at night, and family pride people will tear each other apart to protect.
