Synopsis
An old Italian ring, a forgotten spell, and suddenly teenager Wilby is a shaggy sheepdog. The Shaggy Dog (1959) is the Disney family comedy you can watch online on iFILM.
The catch: Wilby keeps turning into a dog at the worst possible moments, and only a brave deed will lift the curse. The biggest sufferer is his father, a mailman played by Fred MacMurray, who hates dogs and now finds one living in his house and knowing far too much. Tommy Kirk, Annette Funicello and Kevin Corcoran round out the cast, with Charles Barton directing.
This was Disney's first live-action feature comedy, shot in black and white, and it quietly became one of the studio's biggest earners that year — the film that kicked off decades of Disney family farces. The humor is gentle and guileless, with no irony in sight, and younger viewers still take to it. Stream The Shaggy Dog (1959) online on iFILM.
