Synopsis

The year is 1959. Fresh off the success of North by Northwest, Alfred Hitchcock sets his sights on something darker — Robert Bloch's pulp novel Psycho. The studio won't touch it. So Hitchcock mortgages his house and pushes forward. His wife and longtime creative partner Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren, has doubts about the project but stays in the fight. As the shoot grows increasingly obsessive, the line between director and subject starts to blur. Scarlett Johansson portrays Janet Leigh, whose shower scene would change cinema.
