Synopsis
Love Liza (2002) is a comic tragedy you can watch online on iFILM. Web designer Wilson Joel is left alone after his wife takes her own life with no explanation at all.
Wilson grieves in strange ways. He huffs gasoline fumes and burns hours flying remote-control planes, anything to avoid the sealed envelope on the table — Liza's suicide note, which he can't bring himself to open. His mother-in-law (Kathy Bates) wants to read it together; he keeps fleeing the conversation. Philip Seymour Hoffman carries the whole thing as a man in free fall, by turns pathetic and painfully funny.
It's the directing debut of Todd Louiso, from a screenplay by the actor's brother Gordy Hoffman that took a writing prize at Sundance. Small, jagged, and deliberately uncomfortable, this is a film about grief tipping into madness. Not an easy night in. Stream Love Liza (2002) online on iFILM.
