Synopsis
On the Count of Three (2022) is a pitch-black tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. Comedian Jerrod Carmichael directs and stars opposite Christopher Abbott in a story about two best friends who agree to end their lives together — and give themselves one final day to settle everything first.
Val has just walked off his job, certain there is nowhere left to go. Kevin is fresh out of a clinic after his own attempt. They make a grim pact and spend the day driving around town: a father to confront, an ex to see, a smug therapist played by Henry Winkler to scream at. Tiffany Haddish turns up as the woman Val never got over. Every stop drags up something they kept buried.
The film walks a razor's edge, lurching from awkward laughter to a punch in the gut. Carmichael handles a brutal subject with no lectures and no easy comfort, leaving you unsure whether laughing is allowed.
