Synopsis
Digimon Adventure (1999) is an anime short you can watch online on iFILM. Running just twenty minutes, it shows where everything began: late one night a strange egg crawls out of the home computer belonging to young siblings Taichi and Hikari, and out of it hatches the first Digimon they will ever know.
At first it's only an odd pet. The digital creature grows fast, though, and as dawn nears, two giant monsters clash in the sky over their sleeping Tokyo neighborhood of Hikarigaoka — and the kids learn firsthand what befriending something from another world really costs. A Japanese voice cast led by Toshiko Fujita brings it to life.
The real headline is who directed it: this was Mamoru Hosoda's debut, years before The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars.
